Kotowa Coffee Kotowa
Cotowa, a brand with a particularly long history and presence in the Panamanian coffee world, produces coffee cherries on four farms owned by farmer Ricardo Coyner in the Boquete region. Since Alexander Duncan McIntyre was fascinated by the remote land of Boquete and moved there at the beginning of the 20th century, four generations have been producing the finest coffee while preserving traditional coffee cultivation and manufacturing methods. In order to protect the beautiful nature and people's lives of Boquete, they have made a particular effort to consider the environment, such as planting more than 500 fruit trees in the surrounding area, limiting water use, and protecting untouched forests. Of the four farms in Kotowa, Duncan (1,650-1,750m), Don K (1,700-1,750m), Rio Cristal (1,700-1,850m), and Traditional (1,300-1,400m), the coffee produced at Duncan is certified organic in the United States and Europe. In 2020, Duncan's Caturra won second place in the Traditional category at Best of Panama.
